Communiti Labs engaged us to evaluate and uplift their digital platform—an innovative engagement analysis tool designed to help councils and organisations uncover insights from community feedback. While the platform had a strong foundation, an expert UX/UI review revealed key opportunities to clarify navigation, better surface AI’s value, and enhance the discoverability of core features.

The goal was to ensure the platform not only functioned well but also felt intuitive, assistive, and aligned with Communiti Labs’ promise of making engagement data simpler, faster, and more meaningful.

Key focus areas

• Navigation & hierarchy

  The existing global sidebar was cluttered and made it hard to know which project was active. We simplified navigation by introducing contextual sidebars, grouping global actions, and surfacing project context clearly. Users can now minimise the sidebar for a more focused workflow .

• Visibility and utility of AI

  AI-powered automations were happening “behind the scenes,” leaving their value underappreciated. We reframed AI as a visible co-pilot, with clearer labels (e.g., “AI Summary”), contextual prompts, and microinteractions that highlight moments of AI assistance, building user trust and showcasing value .

• Project homepage

  The homepage functioned more like a static entry screen than a dynamic workspace. We reimagined it as an action-oriented dashboard that surfaces recent uploads, AI insights, sentiment summaries, and quick actions—turning it into a central hub for activity and discovery .

• Reports & documents integration

  Reports and documents were siloed, making it unclear how insights connected to source materials. We introduced a unified split-view, report previews, and a central reports hub, allowing users to seamlessly move between raw data, AI-generated summaries, and editable reports
